Celebrating the 4th of July is one of the most exciting things about summers. You get to spend time with family, have barbeques, go to beaches, watch fireworks and take part in all the fun activities.

The very spirit of the day is not just about United States of America being officially declared as a country, it’s about celebrating the values that the nation was founded upon. The declaration was written with the theory that every person possess inherent rights called  “Self-evident Truths” that states- “We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Thus, as we plan to have a fun-filled holiday weekend, let’s make sure we have a safe one. Here a few precautionary measures employees must take care of before heading off for the weekend:

Keep Yourself Hydrated:

Most of you might be planning to go to the beach and spend most of the day in the sun. Thus, make sure you keep yourself hydrated by drinking lots of water or fruits having higher water content such as oranges, peaches, watermelon, blueberries, iceberg lettuce, etc. It will also be helpful if you plan to drink whole of the day.

Take Barbeque Precautionary Measures:

It has now become a tradition to have barbeque on the 4th of July. You can just smell the burgers on the grill. But, as we get involved in the festive season, don’t forget that it is one of the dangerous activities and you must take precautionary measures well in advance. Some of the safety tips are: Keep grills and grilling material outdoors; keep the grills away from home, deck railings or branches; kids and pets must be kept away from the grill; never leave the grill unattended; and always have a fire extinguisher for any unwanted fire outburst.

Employ Safety Measures for Fireworks:

Fireworks mark the beauty of Independence Day celebrations! But, they are very dangerous and must be handled very cautiously! You need to take extra care with them and here are a few safety tips for them:

Keeps kids away from them.
Always make sure they are ignited under an adult supervision.
Always keep them away from any inflammatory object.
Keep yourself covered to avoid any burns.
Don’t put your hand or any body part directly on a firework device while igniting it.
Keep water buckets or fire extinguishers (if you have) handy in case any fire takes place.
Check warnings and usage details before buying any firework products.
Take care of your pets as they react differently to the noises.

Don’t Mix Drinking & Driving:

Well this is the deadliest combination and you must avoid it in any case. As the celebration includes a lot of drinking, avoid indulging in driving and that also includes jet skis or using boats. The number of motor vehicle accidents skyrocket during such celebrations. Thus, make sure you do not spoil your weekend and make safety plans and arrangements before getting indulged in the celebrations.
